The long awaited release of the Canon EOS R5 & R6 has hit the market with a resounding BOOM! Featuring a 45MP full-frame CMOS sensor, 8K 30p and 4K 120p videos, In-body IS up to 8-stops and can shoot up to a blistering 20fps.

Could this camera be the perfect tool for every situation we find ourselves faced with as wedding photographers?

Hailing from Western Australia, James Simmons is a past International Wedding Photographer of the Year Category Winner and was also a judge in the Inaugural International Wedding Photographer of the Year Awards in 2017. He is an all-round top human with a love for dramatic lighting and has a wonderfully approachable and natural way of telling of the tales of human connections.

James managed to get his hands on a Canon OES R5 to have a bit of a play. In the short video James runs the EOS R5 through situations most wedding photographers are presented with during the course of a regular wedding day and leaves us with a few of his personal opinions of this new beast to the photography market. These are just one individuals opinion, but we sure value what James has to say about it.

Canon Australia – 2020 Award Sponsor

We’re also pretty stoked to have Canon Australia on board as a sponsor for the awards this year, and although we don’t have an EOS R5 to hand to the Overall winner of the 2020 International Wedding Photographer of the Year Awards, they have generously supported the awards with an EOS R…also an amazing camera to add to any camera bag.
