IWPOTY Q : How long have you been a professional photographer and how did it come to be your chosen profession? Did you work in other professions previously and if so what?
SINA: I’ve started documenting weddings back in 2017, but went full time only about a year ago. I guess choosing photography as my profession comes down to the way I like to look at life. I believe that it’s way more meaningful, looking at it is as if every tiny thing and moment had something special to it. It’s the best training for being present and noticing all the magic around. I love making this visible through my images. I’m all about human connection, real moments and tying it all together with my love for nature.
”Sina made us feel like we'd known each other forever and we had such a great time with her. The photos just left us speechless. Sina captured our emotions, so many details and the atmosphere so perfectly that we couldn't believe it ~ Annie & Johann
IWPOTY Q : What is your most favourite venue or location to shoot at and why that specific place ?
SINA: My absolute favourite this far has been Fanal forest in Madeira Island. I’ve never seen a place like it before with its eerie trees and mist moving through. Such a moody vibe.
IWPOTY Q : What gear do you shoot with? (eg. Canon and Primes ABC) etc
SINA: I have two Canon R6s in my camera bag and an assortment prime lenses. I adore the Sigma Art series and shoot with the 35mm, 50mm and 85mm most of the time. Occasionally I will use a 24-70mm Tamron lens aswell. And of course I bring my drone with me too.
IWPOTY Q : Do you incorporate much in the way of added light in your shoots? If so, what lighting gear is your go-to ? Speed-lights, LED’s etc?
SINA: 2x Godox V1 Speedlites and on occasion two GODOX ML60Bi LED Studio lights
IWPOTY Q : What is the best tip you have ever received from another photographer or business owner? This could be a business related tip, technical advice, posing suggestion, camera setting, way to plan a shoot etc
SINA: Good light > location; Shoot weddings through the perspective of the couples loved ones
IWPOTY Q : Do you have a great story you’d like to share with us about something crazy / epic / unreal / unpleasant etc that’s happened to or with you at a wedding or on a shoot?
SINA: One of the most memorable moments for me was my best friend Nicos’ elopement, where I got to be a witness and their photographer. We went to Sweden, a place that he and his wife deeply love. For their ceremony we found a magical clearing in the woods. It was just them, me and two other close friends – one of them holding the ceremony and the other playing the guitar and singing. When they made their vows it hit me that Nico just did what we all long for, he married the love of his life and I don’t think I’ve ever felt as happy for anyone as in this moment. We all cried so many happy tears. Even writing this I’m getting teary eyed all over again.
